Workshops & School Visits
Apart from my own writing, I have a passion for the creative writing that goes on in the classroom. I have been visiting Manitoba schools since 2009 – whether it’s been to offer a reading from one of my books and answer questions about writing, or to give an in-depth creative writing workshop. Since that time, I’ve visited with well over +2000 students. My work in schools has inspired ongoing creative activities in classrooms and study guides based on my books.
In 2012, I was welcomed into the Manitoba Arts Council’s Artists in the Schools program, allowing me to work more intensively with young writers. In 2014, with fellow Manitoba artist Anita Lebeau, I co-developed and debuted a new arts program called Scraphic Novels. To my great delight, bookings have been pouring in – and I am always looking for new schools to work with!
